OCP is currently working with the New Jersey Legislator to develop several pieces of legislation directly targeting veterans’ unemployment and underemployment. The first of these, “VETeach” would establish an expedited teaching certificate program for veterans to both enhance their employment opportunities as well as address the state's need for more qualified teachers The legislation to establish this program is Senate Bill S-2764 (Singleton/Diegnan), introduced on June 2, 2022, and referred to the Senate Education Committee. The companion bill A-2764 (Benson/Haider) was introduced on June 30, 2022 and referred to the Assembly Education Committee. .. While the NJ Legislature is about to break for summer, we expect strong backing and additional movement on both bills when they reconvene in the Fall.
We Need Your Help!
The COVID-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented challenges for institutions of higher learning (IHLs), including those related to funding, staffing, and shifting priorities. To better understand how COVID has impacted our military-affiliated students, Operation College Promise (OCP) and the Texas A&M University System launched a research partnership in 2020 to collect data from both students and IHL staff. We are building on those results with updated surveys for students and IHL staff to monitor the continuum of data from the FY’21 to FY’22 Academic Years.
Below are two surveys. The first is related to the impact of on-campus programs and services, while the second is for distribution to your military-affiliated students. Please be aware that all data will be aggregated to assess trends only. NO individual data specific to your school will be made public. However, we encourage you to identify your schools for inclusion in the acknowledgment list and provide quotes for inclusion in the final report.
The deadline for survey completion is 1 December 2021.

OCP would like to thank Jerry Smith and Monteigne Long for the opportunity to contribute to their Symposium. The Symposium is an annual event to raise awareness on resources and support for student veterans. Our Presentation: " Completing the Mission III: Assessing the Impact of the COVID Pandemic on Student Veterans," focused on the 2020 research to evaluate how IHLs can pivot to meet emerging needs generated by the pandemic.

Company policies – Are there company policies that are particularly important to your business? Perhaps your unlimited paternity/maternity leave policy has endeared you to employees across the company. This is a good place to talk about that.
Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.
